My brand partnership failed. Here's what I did.

As a content creator, I get a lot of opportunities to work with brands. It's simple, I make my video and put the brand on it.

Win-Win Situation? Yes.

Unless the video doesn't perform.

Exactly what happened when ISPI contacted me for a video during Qurbani Eid.

The video that Failed:

Qurbani Eid in Bidesh VS Bangladesh.

The video only got 28k views.

The brand didn't tell me anything but I felt like shit.   I still got paid for work that I didn't do a good job at.

So, I gave them a proposal. I will do the next campaign for free.

I just have 1 rule. Don't give me feedback.

Fast forward to almost a year, ISPI launched a Ramadan Campaign where they wanted to work with influencers to promote the powdered Drink.

It was time for me to give back to them.

The video that worked:

POV: You're making shorbot before iftaar at a Bengali House.

Reach:

  • 1 million views across platforms.

  • 1000+ organic Shares.

Insights from my Instagram.

Why it worked:

  1. Realness: The video was shot on a phone, I had a camera but I still chose a phone. This keeps things real making people feel like it's their home.

  2. Timing: This was uploaded during Ramadan, keep it relevant and timely.

The video made Ispi happy. They didn't tell me, I know.

And I stopped feeling bad about my payment.

Takeaway:

If a brand pays you, pay them back by doing the work.

They will come back.

You don't want them to be remembered as the creator who didn't do a fair job on their next meeting.
